Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need VAT registration to use this workbook?
No. If you are not VAT registered, set the Dashboard toggle to No; VAT columns then calculate zero. If you are registered, use Yes and verify the applicable rate and treatment with current SARS guidance or your tax practitioner. The workbook is a recordkeeping aid, not a VAT filing service.
Does the workbook submit a VAT return for me?
No. It calculates and summarises entries you record, but does not connect to SARS eFiling or submit returns. Reconcile its totals to valid source documents and confirm filing obligations and tax treatment with SARS or a qualified tax professional.
Can I change expense categories and budgets?
Yes. Use Categories & Budgets to update expense categories, keyword suggestions and monthly budget amounts. Choose names that fit your business and enter the same category consistently in Expense Log so summary totals and budget progress remain useful.
How many transactions can I record in the workbook?
The prepared Income Log and Expense Log each have 200 transaction rows. Keep regular backups and retain an archive before extending the workbook, because inserted rows may not be included in existing formulas. Reconcile your entries to your source records.
