South Africa's N1 highway runs the length of the country

The N1 national highway runs from Cape Town in the south all the way to the Zimbabwean border in the north — one of the longest continuous road routes in the country.

The N1 passes through several of South Africa's major economic centres, including Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Polokwane, making it a critical artery for both domestic trade and cross-border transport into the rest of Southern Africa.
