A Company Can Pay 27% Corporate Tax — Or a Small Business Corporation Rate Starting at 0%

South Africa's standard corporate income tax rate for 2026/27 remains 27%, but qualifying Small Business Corporations can be taxed on a different progressive table starting at 0% on taxable income up to R99,000.

Two businesses with similar sales can have very different tax positions depending on their legal structure and whether they qualify for the SBC regime. Qualifying requires meeting specific conditions, including a gross-income limit of R20 million, so entrepreneurs shouldn't assume every company simply pays a flat 27%.
